The book was written by a Fellow in the Academy of Orton Gillingham and is based on Orton Gillingham instruction of basic syllable labels including open, closed, magic e, r-controlled, and vowel teams.

This story came to be through my experiences teaching at The Schenck School in Atlanta, GA, an Orton-Gillingham Academy Accredited School for students with dyslexia.

The sounds and animals portion was inspired by a story told by a veteran preschool teacher during my initial Orton-Gillingham Teacher Training class led by my mentor, Rosalie Davis.

The entire journey of the Alphabet King is a compilation of these teachings and the ramblings of my own imagination.

The Consonant Queen is the sequel created to help explain some of the common issues we experience with early readers and consonants.

The journey of Fat Sam continues in this follow-up chapter book.
